About the Forester

An irridescent green, day-flying species which is now highly localised due to agricultural improvements. Despite this, quite a few colonies have been discovered in recent years, all on very lightly grazed areas with rank vegetation. The moths are usually seen on flowers such as Ragged Robin, Marsh Thistle or Bluebells. One site, near Llyn Celyn, was only discovered in 2011 and, on one visit, was estimated to have as many as a thousand adults. No doubt there are other colonies awaiting discovery elsewhere.
