About the Weaver's Wave

This North Wales speciality is caught less often than the Ashworth’s Rustic but this may be because, as a small geometrid, it flies less strongly and the weather conditions need to be that much more favourable to have any chance of catching one. Alternatively, it may simply be less attracted to light or it may actually be less common. It does appear to be widely distributed in Merionethshire and Caernarvonshire but its true status is hard to assess.

The moth often spends the day at rest on a rock surface and is remarkably hard to spot - as is well demonstrated by the photograph.
